AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FUNDS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACCEPT BIDS AND AWARD A CONTRACT TO IBM FOR THE
PURCHASE OF A MAINFRAME COMPUTER UPGRADE FOR THE OFFICE OF
MANAGEMENT SUPPORT.
WHEREAS, this purchase request primarily represents a need to improve inquiry rates
for applications involving Finance, Personnel, Public Works and Parks; and

WHEREAS, the demand on this mainframe has grown significantly in the last six or eight
months and response time has deteriorated as a result; and
WHEREAS, this slows down the work progress for each employee who is dependent on
these systems.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept bids and award a contract to
IBM of Little Rock, Arkansas, the low bidder meeting specifications, in an amount not to exced
$64,950 for the purchase of a mainframe computer upgrade for the Office of Management
Support.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized to appropriate funds from three special
accounts scheduled to be closed for this purchase.
