ORDINANCE NO. 17,354
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FUNDS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACCEPT BIDS AND AWARD A CONTRACT TO CENTRON FOR
THE PURCHASE OF A MAINFRAME COMPUTER NETWORK FOR THE OFFICE
OF MANAGEMENT SUPPORT.
WHEREAS, the Office of Management Support hired a consultant in 1995 to help design
the backbone for a citywide intelligent computer network; and
WHEREAS, the Board budgeted $260,000 in 1996 and funded three (3) staff positions
for this project; and
WHEREAS, the major portion of a year has been spent designing a network using the
very latest technology available; and
WHEREAS, this network backbone should position the City strategically to take
advantage of E -mail, video conferencing, file transfer, internet and other technologies in the
future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept bids and award a contract to
Centron of Dallas, Texas, the low bidder meeting specifications, in an amount not to exceed
$458,692 for the purchase of a mainframe computer network for the Office of Management
Support.
SECTION 2. Funding for this project is to be shared among the following operational
and capital accounts: 100- 030 -1030, 100- 030 -1032, 100 -113 -1350, 210- 350 -0548 and 210 -113-
0491.
