AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8 OF THE LITTLE ROCK
CODE OF ORDINANCES, PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION BY
REFERENCE OF THE 1991 STANDARD MECHANICAL CODE
WITH ARKANSAS AMENDMENTS AND 1991 REVISIONS AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Code 8 -474 (B) adopts by reference the 1991 edition
of the "Standard Mechanical Code" and Volume 1 of 1991 edition of the "Arkansas
Mechanical Code" with Appendix "A" both published by the Southern Building Code Congress
International, Birmingham, Alabama; and
WHEREAS, new amended 1991 editions of these Codes have been published by the
Southern Building Code Congress International and adopted by the State of Arkansas as the
Arkansas Mechanical Code, 1991 Edition; and
WHEREAS, the City has complied with Ark. Code Ann. §14 -55 -207 (1987) by
publishing a notice of intent to adopt these technical codes by reference in a paper of general
circulation within the municipality and three copies of codes have been available for inspection
in the City Clerk's office by the public prior to their adoption; and
WHEREAS, this ordinance amendment is necessary to update the City Code and
authorize the use of the 1991 edition within the City.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Subsection (B) of Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Code
8 -474B (1988) is hereby amended to read as follows:
(a) The following publications are adopted by reference:
(1) The "1991 Standard Mechanical Code with Arkansas Amendments" and
1991 revisions.
SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this provision are

hereby repealed to the extent of the conflict.
