AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO
PLACE A PERMANENT BARRICADE ACROSS
WEST 10TH STREET AT THE UNION
PACIFIC RAILROAD GATE CROSSING
BETWEEN JONES AND THAYER STREETS IN
ROOTS AND COYS ADDITION TO THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
WHEREAS, Union Pacific Railroad Company has requested the
City to close the at -grade crossing on West 10th Street to
vehicular and pedestrian traffic for safety reasons; and
WHEREAS, the site distance to the south is inadequate for
vehicles violating the crossing when the gates are down; and
WHEREAS, the closure will eliminate the need for frequent
maintenance of the railroad signals and cross -arms which are
constantly vandalized; and
WHEREAS, this connection is not needed for thru traffic,
since adequate and safe access can be provided by I -630, 7th
Street and 12th Street.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. City staff is hereby authorized to place a
permanent barricade across West 10th Street at the Union Pacific
Railroad crossing between Jones and Thayer Streets in Roots and
Coys Addition to the City of Little Rock, Arkansas.
