CODE $ 14 -2(b) (1988) TO 7 PROVIDE THAT PERSONS MAY NOT SMOKE 8 WITHIN HOSPITALS, OR WITHIN 9 TWENTY -FIVE (25) FEET OF ANY 10 ENTRANCE TO HOSPITALS; AND FOR 11 OTHER PURPOSES. 12 13 WHEREAS, Little Rock, Ark. Ord. No. 15,290 (May 5, 1987), 14 codified as Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Code S 14 -1 to -2 (1988), 15 prohibits smoking in public places; and 16 WHEREAS, the City has been approached by the Arkansas 17 Hospital Association and asked to consider an extension of the 18 prohibition in health care facilities to the areas immediately 19 adjacent to the entrances; and 20 WHEREAS, after consideration the Board believes that this 21 is an appropriate amendment to the smoking ordinance. 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS 23 OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 24 SECTION 1. Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Code § 14 -2(b) (1988) is 25 hereby amended to add: 26 (4) Those areas within the buildings or 27 structures of any hospital or within 28 twenty -five (25) feet of any entrance to 29 any hospital on property belonging to the 30 owner of the hospital. 31 SECTION 2. SEVERABILITY. In the event any title, subtitle, 32 section, subsection, subdivision, paragraph, subparagraph, item, 33 sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared 34 or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional. such declaration 35 or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of this 36 ordinance which shall remain in full force and effect as if the 0-73 r3 -11 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 C>-73 3 -1 • • 5 . as portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional 1 not originally a part of this ordinance. 2 SECTION 3. REPEALER.
