4 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 32 OF THE
5 LITTLE ROCK CODE OF ORDINANCES, PROVIDING
6 FOR AN OFFENSE FOR PARKING IN FRONT OF OR
7 WITHIN FIVE FEET OF A PUBLIC OR PRIVATE
8 DRIVEWAY, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AND FOR
9 OTHER PURPOSES.

11 WHEREAS, in the process of the latest recodification of the
12 Little Rock Code of Ordinances the prohibition of parking within
13 five feet of a public or private driveway was removed; and
14 WHEREAS, numerous complaints have come to the attention of
15 City traffic enforcement personnel concerning the parking of
16 vehicles so close to a driveway entrance that entering or
17 exiting vehicles have difficulty negotiating the turn; and
18 WHEREAS, this ordinance amendment is necessary to authorize
19 the issuance of a citation to ensure that driveways in the City
20 remain unobstructed by parked vehicles.
21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
22 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
23 SECTION 1. Section (a) (2) of Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Code
24 §32 -309 (1988) is hereby amended to read as follows:
25 (2) In front of or within five (5) feet
26 of a public or private driveway.
27 SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
28 conflict with this provision are hereby repealed to the extent
29 of the conflict.
30 SECTION 3. Due to numerous complaints from residents and
31 business owners that vehicles have been parked in front of or so
32 near driveways that vehicles are unable to enter and exit, and
33 because the traffic enforcement personnel cannot respond to the
34 complaints since the ordinance does not presently prohibit the
35 activity, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this

ordinance shall become effective from and after the date of its
passage.
