AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12 OF THE
LITTLE ROCK CODE OF ORDINANCES, REPEALING
LITTLE ROCK ORDINANCE 16,353, PROVIDING FOR
THE ADOPTION BY REFERENCE OF THE ARKANSAS
FIRE PREVENTION CODE, VOLUME 1 AND 2, 1992
EDITION, DECLARING AN EKERGENCY, AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Code S 12 -28(a) adopts by
reference the 1985 edition of the °Standard Fire Prevention
Code° and Volume 1 of the 1983 edition of the °Arkansas Fire
Prevention Code° both published by the Southern Building Code
Congress International, Birmingham, Alabama; and
WHEREAS, new amended 1991 editions of these Codes have been
published by the Southern Building Code Congress International
and adopted by the State of Arkansas as the Arkansas Fire
Prevention Code, 1992 Edition; and
WHEREAS, the City has complied with Ark. Code Ann. S
14 -55 -207 (1987) by publishing a notice of intent to adopt these
technical codes by reference in a paper of general circulation
within the municipality and three copies of the codes have been
available for inspection in the City Clerk's office by the
public prior to their adoption; and
WHEREAS, this ordinance amendment is necessary to update
the City Code and authorize the use of the 1991 editions with
Arkansas amendments within the City.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: Subsection (a) of Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Code S
12 -28 (1988) is hereby amended to read as follows:
(a) The following publications are adopted by
reference:
(1) Arkansas Fire Prevention Code, Volume 1,
1992 Edition (1991 Standard Fire Prevention
Code with Arkansas Amendments).

SECTION 2. Little Rock, Ark. Ordinance 16,353 (February 3,
1993) is hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. It is hereby found and declared that it is
critical to the safety of the citizens of Little Rock that
citizens and city employees have knowledge of and comply with
the latest edition of the Stanard Fire Prevnetion Code and the
Standard Building Code adopted by the State of Arkansas.
Therefore, this ordinance is necessary to protect the public
health, safety, and welfare, and shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval.
