HomeMy WebLinkAbout15080� r M M � M ORDINANCE NO. 15,080 AN ORDINANCE CONDEMNING CERTAIN BUILDING IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK AS STRUCTURAL, FIRE AND HEALTH HAZARDS; DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO TAKE SUCH ACTION AS IS NECESSARY TO RAZE AND REMOVE SAID BUILDINGS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, certain buildings in the City of Little Rock, 138 Arkansas, have become run -down, dilapidated, unsightly, dangerous, obnoxious and detrimental to the public welfare of the citizens of Little Rock; and WHEREAS, the conditions of these buildings constitute a serious structural, fire and health hazard; and WHEREAS, such buildings are a public nuisance and are dangerous to the health and safety of the occupants or other persons and are in such a manner as to be dangerous to the lives, limbs and property of people in its vicinity or lawfully passing thereby; and WHEREAS, such buildings are declared a nuisance and immediate action is necessary to remedy these situations and said buildings should be razed either by the owners or the City of Little Rock. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. SECTION 1. The owners of the following described properties are hereby ordered to raze and remove said buildings immediately upon the effective date of this Q- /(, C'c% UNIT NO. 12830 • i = M M Ordinance. The Department of Public Works of the City of Little Rock will, immediately, attempt to notify the owners of the properties listed below of the passage of this Ordinance by certified mail. SECTION 2: The conditions of the buildings on the above described properties have been found to present structural, fire and health hazards. SECTION 3. The City Attorney is hereby directed to institute legal proceedings against such persons as may be necessary in order to enforce the provisions of this Ordinance and to remedy the unsightly and dangerous conditions brought about as the result of the failure of the owners thereof to keep up these properties. SECTION 4. The legal proceedings authorized in Section 3. hereof-shall provide that if the buildings are not razed and removed in a certain period to be determined by the Court, the City of Little Rock be authorized to raze said buildings and have a lien upon the real estate for the cost of removing said buildings. 142 SECTION 5. Unless the provisions of this Ordinance are put into effect immediately, the public peace, health and safety of the citizens of Little Rock will be adversely affected; therefore; an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
