AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $70,070.93 FOR
ATTORNEYS' FEES AND VARIOUS COSTS IN THE CASE
OF GILBERT V. CITY OF LITTLE ROCK.
WHEREAS, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals has awarded
$32,070.93 to the law firm of Bramhall, Duncan & Ohm as
attorneys' fees and costs for the appeal portion of the Gilbert
v.. City of Little Rock case; and
WHEREAS, fee claims and petitions have also been filed or
submitted by attorney Emmanuel Pruitt and John Walker for
representation of the plaintiffs during a portion of the district
court trial of this matter in the total amount of $38,000.00; and
WHEREAS, after appropriate review and analysis of the fee
requests by the City Attorney's office, it is their
recommendation that these amounts be appropriated and paid to the
respective attorneys.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY.THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. It is. hereby appropriated the sum of $32,070.93
from the unappropriated balance of the City's General Fund for
the payment of court awarded attorneys' fees and costs in the
Gilbert v. City of Little Rock case to be made payable to the
lawfirm of Bramhall, Duncan & Ohm.
SECTION 2. There hereby is appropriated the sum of
$38,000.00 from the unappropriated balance of the City's General
Fund to be made payable as follows: $18,000.00 to attorney
Emmanuel Pruitt, and $20,000.00 to be made payable to attorney
John Walker, all as payment of attorneys' fees and costs for
these two lawyers-in the Gilbert v. City of Little Rock case.
