ORDINANCE NO. 15,286
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 25 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS
TO CLARIFY PROCEDURES FOR THE SUN24ARY ABATEMENT
OF UNSAFE BUILDINGS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the clarification of procedures for the
removal of unsafe buildings is necessary to protect the
health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City of
Little Rock.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 25 -92 of Chapter 25 of the
Code of Ordinances be amended to read as follows:
"Section 25 -92. Same - Unsafe buildings - Notice.
Any buildings, walls, or party walls or any
portions thereof, chimneys, or other
structures in the city that from .fire,
excavation, improper erection or
construction, or from any other cause,
which at any time become unsafe or
dangerous to life and limb, shall be
razed and removed, or made secure by
the building.official, if within
twenty -four (24) hours from the time
of serving notice, the owner(s) of
record shall have failed to commence
rehabilitation of or removal of the
same and if within seventy -two (72)
hours, the owner(s) of record, shall
have failed to complete the removal.
The City shall place and enforce a lien
upon the premises for expenses incurred
by the City."
SECTION 2. Declaring an Emergency. It is hereby found
and determined that an emergency exists with reference to

the ability of the City of Little Rock to effectively
abate unsafe buildings. Therefore, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the
preservation and advancement of the public health, safety
and welfare, shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage.
