AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE EXPIRATION
DATE OF TAXICAB OPERATOR PERMITS FROM
MARCH 31, 1983, TO MAY 5, 1983.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock hereby extends the current expiration date of the taxicab
operator permits of the following taxicab operators from March
31, 1983 to May 5, 1983:
1. Black and White Cab Company
2. Capitol Cab Company
3. Kenneth Britt
4. Edgar Gatewood
5. Sam Harshaw
6. Elria Hooks
7. Thomas Houston
8. Aaron Isham
9. Avert Isham
10. Joseph LaVeque
11. Robert Orlicek
12. Jerry Palmer
13. Willie Scott
14. Rodell Taylor
15. Dewey Worthey
Section 2. These taxicab operator permits shall
automatically expire at midnight May 5, 1983.
Section 3. It has been found and is declared that
existing ordinance provisions and regulations relating to the
taxicab business are inadequate for the protection of the public
in many respects; that such ordinance provisions and regulations,
are therefore, in serious need of major alterations and
revisions: to which end the entire matter of taxicab regulation

is under study by the Board of Directors; that in order to 215
establish a period of transition from the present status to that
of a new system of regulation free of confusion and possible
detriment to the public and holders of current taxicab operators
permits the forthcoming expiration date of such permits, viz.,
March 31, 1983, must be extended to May 5, 1983. Therefore, an
emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance, being
necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and
safety, shall take effect and be in force from the date of its
approval.
