HomeMy WebLinkAbout143860 ORDINANCE NO. 14,386 0 161 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING VARIOUS PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, SAID CHAPTER DEALING WITH THE ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. rn NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF vi DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. V SECTION 1. The following sections and subsections of 0 v Chapter 12 are amended as follows: v A. Section 12 -1 (a) is hereby amended to read as follows: (a) All electrical work for light, heat, power, or other purposes placed in or on any building, structure or premises within the City of Little Rock shall be installed in conformity with the rules and regulations as laid down in the 1981 Edition of the National Electrical Code as approved by the National Fire Protection Association and in conformity with the additional rules and regulations as set forth in this chapter. Where local rules and regulations are set forth in this chapter, they shall take preference over any rules conflicting therewith. B. Section 12 -2 (r) is hereby amended to read as follows: (r) Section 110 -3B of the 1981 National Electrical Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 110 -3B Installation and use. Listed or labeled equipment shall be used or installed in accordance with any instruction included in the listing or labeling. Exception No. 1: Where the marking on air conditioning equipment specifies fuses, such equipment shall be permitted to be protected by circuit breakers instead of fuses; provided the circuit breaker installation complies with Parts C and F of Article 440 of the National Electrical Code. C. Section 12 -2 (t) is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 210 -52 of the 1981 National Electrical Code is hereby amended by deleting paragraph (d) which reads: (d) Outdoor Outlets: For one and two family 162 dwellings, at least one receptacle outlet shall be installed outdoors. See Section 210 -8 (a) (3). I D. Section 12 -2 (v) is hereby amended to read as follows: (v) Section 410 -8 -A of the 1981 National Electrical Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 410 -8 Fixtures in clothes closets. a. A fixture in a clothes closet shall be permitted to be installed: 1. On the wall above the closet door, provided a clearance between the fixture and a storage area where combustible material may be stored within the closet is not less than six inches (6 "); or 2. On the ceiling over the area which is unobstructed to the floor, maintaining a six inch (6 ") clearance horizontally between the fixture and a storage area where combustible material may be stored within the closet. E. Section 12 -2 (w) is hereby amended to read as follows: (w) Section 410 -16 (c) of the National Electrical Code is hereby amended by deleting the last two sentences, which reads as follows: Fixtures so supported shall b, the ceiling framing member by means, such as bolts, screws, Clips identified for use with ceiling framing member(s) and shall be also permitted. fastened to mechanical or rivets. the type of fixture(s) F. Section 12 -3 (e) is hereby amended to read as follows. Add paragraph 2 which reads: (2) When a project consists of more than one (1) structure, each separate structure shall have a separate electrical permit. For purposes of determining whether separate permits are needed, buildings not having common attic space connected only by a canopy walkway or similar connections shall be deemed to be a separate building. G. Section 12 -14 (a) (3) is hereby amended to read as follows: (3) Renewal fee for master electrician shall be twenty -five dollars ($25.00). H. Section 12 -14 (b) (3) is hereby amended to read as follows: (3) Renewal fee for journeyman electrician shall be fifteen dollars ($15.00). I. Section 12 -14 (h) (1) (e) is hereby amended to read as follows: (e) Any person, partnership, firm, or corporation desiring to engage in the business of an air conditioning electrical contractor may apply for and be issued a license upon satisfying the Chief Electrical Inspector that he or it has either a master electrician or a supervising air conditioning electrician as its superintendent or manager and shall pay a license fee as provided in the Privilege License Ordinance of the City of Little Pock. J. Section 12 -19 (c) is hereby amended to read as follows: (c) A fee of ten dollars ($10.00) will be assessed to each applicant applying for a certification by the Chief Electrical Inspector.
