RESOLUTION NO. 8.019
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, NAMING
THE NEW STAGE AT RIVERFRONT PARK "RIVERFEST
AMPITHEATRE."
WHEREAS, Riverfest celebrated its tenth anniversary in
1988; and
WHEREAS, the event was the most successful in its
history, attracting over 375,000 people during the Memorial
Day weekend; and
WHEREAS, Riverfest has been named one of the top 100
events in North America; and
WHEREAS, the festival is one of the major catalysts in
the development and expansion of Riverfront Park; and
WHEREAS, the park has been a major catalyst for the
redevelopment of downtown Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, in 1986, Riverfest received the Top of the
Rock Award from the Downtown Partnership for attracting
people to downtown Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, Riverfest has used its funds for the
construction of a fountain in the park, as well as the
perpetuation of the festival; and
WHEREAS, in 1987, the Riverfest, Inc., Board of
Directors pledged $200,000 toward the construction of an
ampitheatre in the east end of the park; and
WHEREAS, the festival's contribution amounts to over
one third of the total construction cost; and
WHEREAS, the first use of the ampitheatre was for
Riverfest X; and
WHEREAS, Riverfest considers itself a partner with the
City of Little Rock.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of
Little Rock, Arkansas, hereby officially names the new stage
at Riverfront Park "Riverfest Ampitheatre."

SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
