RESOLUTION NO. 7,983
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ACCEPT BIDS AND AWARD A CONTRACT FOR PLAYGROUND
EQUIPMENT AS REQUESTED BY THE PARRS AND
RECREATION DEPARTMENT.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter
into a contract for the purchase of playground equipment requested
by the Parks and Recreation Department as set forth in the
attached fact sheet, for a total price not to exceed budget, with
monies having been previously appropriated as a part of the City's
contribution to New Futures program.

It is recommended that the bid from Bergfeld Recreation, Inc. be accepted.
Although Bergfeld was not the low bidder, the equipment they bid met the
specified design concept and offered the most play value compared to the
others. Areas where Diversified and Arkansas Miracle failed to meet the
specifications are as follows:
Diversified -1) Unit doesn't include a lower platform.
2) They bid an arch climber where a more elaborate coaster
climber was specified.
3) Chain net climber was not as large as the one specified.
4) Main play deck is in 3 levels ranging from 2z' -4' high;
a 4' high platform was specified.
AR Miracle -1) Unit doesn't include a skill tester (_ a trapazoidal
climbing device), double wide slide, sliding pole, or
three -ring ladder.
2) Main deck has less play area.
3) They bid an arch climber where a more elaborate coaster
climber was specified.
4) Their unit offers plastic slides where metal was speci
fied. East experience has .shown that the metal requires
less maintenance.
