A RESOLUTION COMMENDING FINANCE DIRECTOR
E. JACK MURPHY FOR HIS DEDICATION AND
COMMITMENT TO THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK.

WHEREAS, Finance Director E. Jack Murphy began his employ
with the City of Little Rock on December 13, 1954; and
WHEREAS, during the ensuing thirty -four years of service
to the City of Little Rock, E. Jack Murphy having risen to the
position of Director of Finance for the City of Little Rock has
had the distinction of working under both the Mayor - Council form
of government and the City Manager form of government having
twice served as Acting City Manager; and
WHEREAS, E. Jack Murphy, as the Director of Finance has
served the City of Little Rock with irreproachable integrity and
distinction as evidenced by the City first receipt of the
prestigious Certificate of Achievement in Financial Reporting
Award given by the Government Finance Officer's Association in
1960 and its receipt of this Award continuously since 1980;
and
WHEREAS, because of E. Jack Murphy's leadership, the City
of Little Rock became the 99th governmental entity in the nation
and the first city in Arkansas to receive this distinguished
award; and
WHEREAS, as a direct result of his personal commitment,
dedication and intelligence, countless capital improvement
projects benefitting and promoting our community have become
a reality.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. On behalf of the citizens of the City of
Little Rock, the Board of Directors wishes to express its deep
appreciation for the hardwork, dedication and leadership which

E. Jack Murphy has given to the City of Little Rock during his
thirty -four year tenure as Director of Finance.
