RECQ4 ENDATION AND DISCUSSION:
Bruce Oakley, Inc. is an only source for the supply of non - delivered,
bulk rock salt. We have bid the salt the last two years and Oakley is
the only supplier. This year they failed to submit their bid on time
but have written a letter of agreement to supply the City with salt at
$30.00 a ton through March 31, 1988. This price is less than last
year's, therefore this appears to be an equitable offer. Since the
amount bought is dependent on the weather conditions, it is conceiv-
able that this contract could exceed $20,000. Curing the snow storm
of January 6, 1988, approximately $7500.00 was spent on salt.
