A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE LITTLE ROCK
MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGES TO APPOINT UP TO
TWO (2) MUNICIPAL COURT MAGISTRATES PURSUANT
TO ARK. STAT. ANN. § 22 -766.
WHEREAS, the caseload of the two Little Rock municipal
court judges will increase due to the expansion of the Court's
jurisdictional limits pursuant to Amendment 64; and
WHEREAS, the enabling legislation for Amendment 64, (Act
431 of 1987), does not provide for additional staffing to handle
the anticipated increase in caseload; and
WHEREAS, the Little Rock Municipal Court Traffic Division
is currently holding two (2) courts simultaneously due to an
increased caseload.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to Ark. Stat. Ann. 9 22 -766 the
municipal court judges are authorized to appoint up to two (2)
municipal court magistrates who shall possess the same legal
qualifications required of the municipal judge making such
appointment.
SECTION 2. The municipal court magistrates shall be
authorized to receive reasonable compensation for services
rendered to the divisions of the Little Rock Municipal Court,
which in no event shall exceed $100.00 per day, payable from
funds which have previously been appropriated.
