RESOLUTION NO. 7,717
A RESOLUTION INSTRUCTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
DEVELOP A PLAN IN COOPERATION WITH OTHER
GOVERNMENT ENTITIES, FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION
OF A REGIONAL JAIL FACILITY TO SERVE THE
CENTRAL ARKANSAS AREA.
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock and the Central Arkansas
area are experiencing a serious situation involving adequate
detention facilities for convicted criminals; and
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock would like to explore
the possibilities of constructing, staffing, and financing a
regional jail facility which would serve the entire Central
Arkansas area; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock is desirous of taking the lead in solving this problem by
developing a plan for the implementation of adequate detention
facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby directed to
develop a plan for the creation of a regional jail facility in
the Central Arkansas area to be submitted to the Board of
Directors for consideration within ninety (90) days from the date
of this resolution. This plan shall include a proposal for
location, design, financing and local government participation.
