HomeMy WebLinkAbout6957312 RESOLUTION N0. 6,957 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPOINTING THE LAW FIRM OF HOUSE, HOLMES AND JEWELL TO REPRESENT THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK IN THE CASE OF NAACP, ET AL. VERSUS THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK. WHEREAS, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Leadership Roundtable, Robert "Say" McIntosh, and Arkansas Community For Reform Now (ACORN) on February 24, 1983, sued the City of Little Rock in Case No. LR -C -83 -174, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas, Western Division, to enjoin the City's plan to build a sports and entertainment arena in the City of Little Rock on the ground that the plaintiffs and the classes they represent have not been allowed to participate in the planning of the development; and, wHEREAS, the law firm of House, Holmes and Jewell, as a public service, has offered to represent the City in such litigation without charge; and, WHEREAS, this law firm is eminently qualified to render such service, Noll, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. The City of Little Rock hereby gratefully accepts the aforesaid offer of the law firm of House, Holmes and Jewell and hereby authorizes and appoints this law firm to represent the interests of the City in such litigation at all stages until the matter is finally concluded.
