WHEREAS, after review and consideration of these plans,
it has been determined that Plan VII with acquisition of
Fourche Bottoms (the plan recommended by the Board of
Engineers for Rivers and Harbors) be authorized and funded
for construction for the reasons that said plan combines
elements of structural development, land acquisition,
floodplain management, recreation and preservation of
historical, environmental and archaeological sites; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to see expenditious approval,
funding and implementation of Plan VII including cost
sharing in the acquistion of the Fourche Bottoms.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of
Little Rock hereby approves and intends to support the plan
of the U.S. Corps of Engineers for Fourche Bayou Basin.
SECTION 2. The Board of Directors of the City of
Little Rock commits to provide for 75 percent of the
nonfederal share of the cost of the project.

WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has an urgent need for

WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers has developed
alternative plans for the development and flood protection
of the Fourche Drainage System, which plans were the subject
of a presentation to the Board of Directors and reviewed by
various staff members of the City of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, after review and consideration of these plans,

SECTION 3. The Board of Directors of the City of
Little Rock hereby states its intent to appropriate General
Revenue Sharing funds received by the City in 1983 and 1984
in an amount necessary to provide for 75 percent of the
nonfederal cost of the project.
SECTION 4. The Board of Directors urge the
appropriation of the $700,000 included in the President's
FY 84 budget for Continued Planning and Engineering for the
Fourche Creek Flood Reduction Project.
SECTION 5. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
