HomeMy WebLinkAbout6931M 0 RESOLUTION NO. 6,931 280 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE DESIGN OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FOR CERTAIN APPROVED FY183 PROJECTS; AND, TO WAIVE THE FORMAL SELECTION PROCESS FOR CONSULTANTS THEREFOR. WHEREAS, there is a need to prepare design for Traffic Signal Capital Improvements on the following approved FY'83 projects: (a) Markham Street, Cumberland to Arch; (b) Louisiana, Markham to Capitol Avenue; and, (c) signal improvements at various locations, including seven intersections; and, WHEREAS, the firm of Peters and Associates is recommended as an only source which has the degree of expertise necessary to prepare the design for the proposed traffic signal improvements; and, WHEREAS, previous contracts with Peters and Associates demonstrated that frm'.scapability and reliability of performing as required; and, WHEREAS, the formal selection process for securing such professional services should be waived, and the City Manager should be authorized to negotiate and enter into a contract with said firm as an only source. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The formal selection process .for securing professional services to prepare design for Traffic Signal Capital Improvements for the approved FY'83 projects; Markham Street, Cumberland to Arch; Louisiana, Markham to Capitol Avenue; and signal improvements at various other locations, shall be and it is hereby waived. SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to negotiate and to enter into a contract with the firm of Peters and Associates for the purpose of accomplishing the design for Traffic Signal Capital Improvements described in Section 1 above, 281 and he is excused from following the formal selection process normally used to secure such professional services. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. ADOPTED: February 1, 1983 ATTEST: (22M,4 APPROVED: -2-
