A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE INTENT OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK BOARD OF
DIRECTORS TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY
FOR FUNDING AND ADMINISTRATION OF
THE SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD PROGRAM
BEGINNING ON FEBRUARY lit, 1983.
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock Board of Directors
appointed a committee consisting of representatives of the
City Board of Directors, the Little Rock School District and
the Pulaski County School District to study the school
crossing guard issue; and
WHEREAS, the Committee Chairman, Webb Hubbell presented
the Committee report to the Board of Directors at its agenda
session on Wednesday, January 12, 1983; and
WHEREAS, The Committee recommended to the Board of
Directors that the City of Little Rock assume responsibility
for funding and administration of the school crossing guard
program effective August 1983, conditioned upon the School
Districts' commitment to make available school facilities
and to cooperate in the provision of City recreation
programs and services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK.
SECTION 1. The City agrees to assume responsibility
for funding and administration of the school crossing guard
program effective February 14, 1983.
SECTION 2. The Police Chief will retain final
authority over designations of crossings where crossing
guards will be placed.
SECTION 3. Any expansion of the number of crossing
guards presently authorized must be approved by the Board of
Directors in the annual budgetary process. Twenty -six
positions are currently authorized.

SECTION 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
enter into agreements with the Little Rock School District
and the Pulaski County School District delineating areas of
cooperation in the provision of recreation and other
services.
SECTION 5. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
