RESOLUTION NO. 6,979
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CREATION OF A SISTER CITY
AFFILIATION BETWEEN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK AND THE CITY
OF KAOHSIUNG, PROVINCE OF TAIWAN, REPUBLIC OF CHINA
WHEREAS, Ever since 1911, with the establishment of the Republic of China,
by The Great Chinese Patriot, Dr. Sun Yat Sen, the people of the United States
of America, have maintained insoluble bonds of friendship with the people of
the Republic of China; and
WHEREAS, The citizens of Arkansas and of the City of Little Rock recognize
the importance of continuing good relations with the people of "Free China "; and
WHEREAS, The citizens of our two cities are encouraged to work together
to promote social, educational, and economic projects designed to maintain and
strengthen friendship between our two cities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION I. The formation of a Sister City Affiliation between the City of
Little Rock and the City of KaoHsiung, Province of Taiwan, Republic of China is
hereby approved.
SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to act as the official
representative of the City of Little Rock to carry out the intent of this
Resolution.
SECTION 3. That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Honorable
Jackson C. T. Yang, Mayor of the City of KaoHsiung, Province of Taiwan,
Republic of China.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption.
