BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The 1984 program recommendations of the Little Rock Private Industry Council as set forth on the attached Project Summaries, numbered 1 through 5, are hereby approved. C i Clerk na - �. ism M MM PROJECT SMIARY PROPOSAL SUBMITTED BY: Economic Opportunity Agency of Pulaski County 2501 State Street Little Rock, Arkansas 72206 CONTACT PERSON: Michael J. Carpenter 372 -6003 LENGTH OF PROJECT: 36 Weeks OVERVIEW: EOA will prepare 114 youth and unskilled adults for entry into the labor force by providing classroom training and a combination of classroom and on -the- job training to JTPA eligible applicants. Training facilities utilized will include Pulaski County Vo -Tech and other acceptable training agencies or companies. Areas of training will include: Printing, Word Processing, Welding, Health Occupations, Auto Mechanics, Barber /Beauty Stylist, Electro- Mechanical Technician, and Practical Nursing, On- the -job train- ing contracts will be written with private or public sector employers. Training Services Jolly Road Blue Bell, Pennsylvania 19422 CONTACT PERSON(S): Jerry King, Regional Manager (618) 252 -5311 LENGTH OF PROJECT: 10 Weeks OVERVIEW: Henkels F, McCoy proposed to prepare a maximum of 20 participants per class for unsubsidized employment as key system installers for the Telephone Inter- connect Industry. From each class of 20, Henkels $ McCoy expects 16 to graduate: of those 16, 13 are planned to be placed in training related positions at $4.50 an hour or above. Participants will be trained in Little Rock. Site will be selected upon notification of funding. Box 338 Jacksonville, Arkansas 72076 CONTACT PERSON: Joe Flaherty 982 -0528 LENGTH OF PROJECT: 28 Weeks OVERVIEW: Pathfinder, Inc. will provide classroom training and placement services for 27 individuals aged 17 and up. All persons enrolled are generally derived from the population of physically, developmentally or emotional handicapped. Training conducted prepares individuals for employment in the following occupations: Print- ing, Wood Machining, Assembly and repair of electri- cal equipment, Fabrication and Repair of Wood Products, Production and Stock Clerks, Electrical Assembly, and Packaging and Material handling. Twenty (20) partici- pants will be placed in competitive employment and four (4) will be positive terminations. PROJECT COST: Total Budget - 100,000 -3 - PROJECT SUMMARY PROPOSAL SUBMITTED BY: Little Rock School District West Markham & Izard Streets Little Rock, Arkansas 72201 CONTACT PERSON: Mrs. Rose Douglas Mitchell (501) 374 -2315 LENGTH OF PROJECT: 26 Weeks OVERVIEW: Sixty (60) JTPA eligible participants will receive classroom training and practicum in the clerical occupation. Little Rock School District employees will provide 870 hours of instruction based on their clerical curriculum. Monthly monitoring of partici- pant activities and progress will be conducted by JTPA Counselors. Seventy -Five (75) percent of the participants will be placed into unsubsidized training - related employment in the public or private sector.
