HomeMy WebLinkAbout7032RESOLUTION NO. 7,032 A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE INTENT OF THE CITY TO PROCEED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CENTRAL ARKANSAS TRANSIT MAINTENANCE GARAGE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TRANSIT POLICY BOARD'S APPLICATION FOR URBAN MASS TRANSPORTATION ADMINISTRATION (UMPTA) FUNDS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby expresses the intent of the City to proceed with the construction of the Central Arkansas Transit maintenance garage in accordance with the Transit Policy Board's Application for Urban Mass Transportation Administration (UMPTA) funds, the particulars of which are set forth in the attached memorandum. Fleming, City Manager SUBJECT: Resolution of Intent Board Action Recommended: Resolution expressing the intent of the City to proceed with the construction of the Central Arkansas Transit (CAT) maintenance garage upon completion of architectural /engineering studies in accordance with the Transit Policy Board's application for Urban Mass Transporta- tion Administration (UMTA) funds. Background: The Transit Policy Board for CAT, acting on ehab if of the City of Little Rock, recently recommended submission of an application to UMTA for federal funds in the amount of $824,000. The following acquisitions are proposed: 1) acquisition for a new CAT maintenance garage, 2) architectural /engineering studies for the design of the garage, 3) computer system for management and preventive maintenance, 4) refurbishing of the two -way radio system, 5) bus washer and cleaner, 6) fare boxes and 7) planning funds for Metroplan. The local'share totalling $206,000 will not require addition- al local appropriations but will come from surplus funds, state funds resulting from the new state funding act and Metroplan's normal budget for transportation planning. UMTA is prepared to approve the application; however, it has asked that local governments express their intent to proceed with the construction of the garage after completion of architectural /engineering studies. nw w usan B.
