RESOLUTION NO. 7,212 225
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING A POLICY FOR REVENUE
PRODUCING EVENTS OF THE FRIENDS OF THE ZOO.
WHEREAS, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain a
quality zoo by the standards that quality zoos are judged and
appreciated, within the given budgets; and
[WHEREAS, a greater cooperative effort must be achieved
through the partnerships of the City with such private groups as
the Friends of the Zoo; and
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has included revenues
anticipated for general operation from concessions and earmarked
admission gate receipts for maintenance and for the Great Ape
Display and the staff is encouraged to maximize the revenue from
these two sources; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors has previously directed by
Ordinance No.14,347 that the revenues collected from Zoo Day be
designated to the Friends of the Zoo; and
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Zoo are desirous of exploring
other fund raising events such as an elephant ride, gift shop,
Spookarama and Zoo Night.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the Friends of the Zoo are hereby encouraged
and permitted to collect revenue from an elephant ride, a gift
shop and Zoo Night for the benefit of the zoo.
SECTION 2. That the Friends of the zoo are permitted to
collect revenue beginning at 1:00 p.m. from the Spookarama for
the benefit of the zoo.
SECTION 3. The Board of directors expresses appreciation to
the volunteer efforts of the Friends of the Zoo, in its cooperative
efforts in improving and upgrading the zoo in keeping with the
adopted master plan.
