RESOLUTION NO. 7,145
A RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING AND REQUESTING THAT
OWNERS OF FAMILY THEATERS ATTEMPT TO OFFER AN
ALTERNATIVE TO "R" RATED FILMS.
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock is comprised of citizens
with varying degrees of entertainment interests; and
WHEREAS, the movie theaters of this City are one form of
entertainment that appeals to all ages of citizens in our
community; and
WHEREAS, it is important that none of our citizens be
deprived of the right to enjoy the opportunities of patronizing
the movie theaters; and
WHEREAS, there are many citizens who chose not to attend
an "R" rated movie; and
WHEREAS, there is a large percentage of citizens who are
prohibited by law because of age restrictions from viewing an "R"
rated movie; and
WHEREAS, many of the citizens of this City have expressed
concern that on a consistent basis only limited alternative
viewing is offered from the "R" rated films; and
WHEREAS, concern is expressed that when an alternative
viewing is offered a geographical spread in the area theaters is
not available.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock recognizes that they have an obligation to the citizens of
the City that would allow them the opportunity to patronize
certain movies that do not have restricted "R" ratings.
SECTION 2. The Board of Directors hereby encourages and
requests that the owners of family theaters in our City recognize
that concern has been expressed to this governing body as
outlined in this resolution.
SECTION 3. The Board of Directors encourages the owners
of family theaters to give consideration to this request and ask

that attempts be made to insure that at least one screen at
multi- screen locations offer an alternative to "R" rated films.
SECTION 4. The Board of Directors directs that this
resolution be forwarded to the City and Regional Management of
United Artists Theaters and Rand Theaters
