HomeMy WebLinkAbout7282RESOLUTION NO. 7.282 A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THAT PRIORITY STATUS BE GIVEN TO EXISTING IDENTIFIED DRAINAGE PROBLEMS AND PUBLIC SAFETY. WHEREAS, the Board of Directors has gone on record establishing public safety and drainage as high priorities for service provision; and WHEREAS, drainage problems have reached a serious state in the City of Little Rock; and WHEREAS, the Engineering Section of the Department of Public Works has identified through citizen requests and through floodings during heavy rains a large number of drainage problems to be corrected in the City; and WHEREAS, as of July 1984, a Capital Improvement Preliminary Engineering Study had been completed on at least 76 identified drainage problems; and WHEREAS, the City Board of Directors in the 1984 Operating Budget designated drainage as a priority and directed staff to increase the focus on drainage in an effort to alleviate the difficulties experienced by numbers of Little Rock citizens; and WHEREAS, the severe rains experienced in the City of Little Rock in the month of October 1984, highlighted the number of serious drainage problems. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKNASAS. SECTION 1. The Board affirms that public safety and drainage needs are major priorities of the City of Little Rock. 133 G -i M M w m iwom M M M! M�® m r 136 SECTION 2. The City will undertake to meet public safety and drainage needs in areas prior to the City's assuming responsibility for provision of municipal services to areas not presently a part of the City.
