HomeMy WebLinkAbout7269RESOLUTION NO. 7,269 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS OF THE SECTION 504 ADVISORY COMMITTEE. WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock is a recipient of the United States Federal Revenue Sharing funds; and WHEREAS, Section 504 of the Revenue Sharing Act of 1972 as amended in 1976 requires that recipients of federal funds provide equal opportunity and access in programs, activities, services and employment practices to mentally and physically handicapped persons; and WHEREAS, Section 504 is a civil rights law intended to protect the rights of handicapped persons in the same manner as Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects persons from discrimination on the basis of race, color or national origin; and WHEREAS, administrative requirements for all revenue sharing recipients include the preparation of a self - evaluation of all services, programs, activities, policies and practices to determine areas of possible noncompliance with regulations of said section. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock hereby appoints the following individuals to serve as members of the Section 504 Advisory Committee in order to ensure self - evaluation of all City services, programs, activities, policies and practices to determine areas of possible noncompliance with the regulations. By the authority of the City Board of Directors, this committee may monitor the various departmental programs, services, policies and practices to ensure,that such activities of the City.as a recipient of ORS funds ..are accessible to handicapped persons when viewed in their entirety.
