RESOLUTION NO. 7,384 227
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE IMPORTANCE OF
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS AND STATING THE
INTENT OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO DEVELOP
AND IMPLEMENT AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, enhancement of economic development within the
community is a proper policy and role of government; and
WHEREAS, economic development contributes to the health,
safety and welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock currently has available
one time capital funds; and
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock along with cities through-
out the country is facing deep cutbacks in federal funding
assistance; and
WHEREAS, the City has a direct interest in maintaining a
stable tax base and expanding that tax base to meet service
demands; and
WHEREAS, the City has a direct interest in the creation of
jobs; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to work with and through established
groups and neighborhoods in forging a partnership for the pursuit
of economic development; and
WHEREAS, establishment of revolving fund programs through the
use of capital dollars will ensure that additional funds are
available in coming years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK
BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
SECTION 1. Economic development is a major priority of the
City of Little Rock.
SECTION 2. Economic development efforts are necessary to
provide a stable and expanding tax base to fund basic municipal
services.
SECTION 3. The City hereby expresses its intent to develop
and implement an economic development program for the City.

SECTION 4. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
