3 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE IMPLEMENTATION
OF "OPERATION SAFE HOME ", A PROGRAM TO
4 IMPROVE NEIGHBORHOOD SECURITY AND AUTHORIZING
5 FURTHER, THE EXPENDITURE OF PREVIOUSLY
APPROPRIATED FUNDS.

WHEREAS, in 1985 the City of Little Rock experienced over
8
9 3,281 residential burlgaries resulting in 3.5 million dollars of
10 property loss; and
11
WHEREAS, neighborhood security programs have been
12
13 implemented around the country which have been successful in
14 reducing residential burglaries; and
15
WHEREAS, these neighborhood security programs are further
16
17 designed to help protect residents from rape, robbery, assault,
18 battery, and other various crimes committed against people in
19
their homes.

21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
22 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:

Section 1. The Little Rock Board of Directors wishes to
24
25 implement "Operation Safe Home ", a program to improve
26 neighborhood security. This program is designed to reduce
27
residential burglaries in certain target areas based on crime
28
29 prevention measures developed by the Little Rock Police
30 Department.

Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to expend
32
33 $50,000.00 of funds previously appropriated for the neighborhood
34 security program as approved in Ordinance No. 14,871.
