RESOLUTION NO. _7,572__ 145
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE TROJAN BASKETBALL
TEAM OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT LITTLE
ROCK.
WHEREAS, under the dynamic and energetic leadership of Head
Basketball Coach Mike Newell, the Trojans of the University of
Arkansas at Little Rock finished the season by winning the Trans
America Athletic Conference (TAAC) season title and tournament
championship, thus earning a berth in the National Collegiate
Athletic Association's Tournament (NCAA) in Minneapolis,
Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, the Trojans won a decisive 90 -83 win over the tenth
ranked fighting Irish of Notre Dame in the opening round of the
NCAA tournament; and
WHEREAS, the Trojans continued to play outstanding
basketball against North Carolina State in double overtime in the
second round; and
WHEREAS, the team's hard work and efforts won them the
respect and admiration of not only the citizens of the State of
Arkansas, but also the thousands of persons in attendance at the
Metrodome and millions of others across the nation who watched
the games on television.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The Little Rock Board of Directors hereby
commends the Trojan basketball team of the University of Arkansas

at Little Rock for its outstanding performance this season and
for being a source of pride for all the citizens of Little Rock
and the State of Arkansas.
