3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER
4 INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE ARKANSAS HIGHWAY AND
5 TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
6 LEFT -TURN LANES ON CANTRELL ROAD BETWEEN INTERSTATE
7 430 AND MISSISSIPPI STREET; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD)
10 has proposed a Federal Aid Project for the construction of left -turn lanes on Cantrell
11 Road, which will be constructed at River Ridge Road, Gibson Drive, Millbrook Drive,
12 Robinwood Drive, Misty Lane, and Ridgewood Drive, and
13 WHEREAS, the above locations have had a long history of accidents caused by
14 lack of left -turn storage lanes for vehicles to make safe turns into the residential areas,
15 and
16 WHEREAS, the City's twenty- percent local match for the $750,000.00 project
17 will be $150,000.00;
18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
19 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
20 Section 1. The City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized and directed
21 to execute all appropriate agreements and contracts necessary to expedite the
22 construction of the above - stated improvement.
23 Section 2. The City of Little Rock, Arkansas, pledges its full support and hereby
24 authorizes the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department to initiate
25 action to implement this project.

1 Section 3. The amount of $150,000.00 is authorized to be paid from the Bond
2 Infrastructure Reserve Fund, as local matching funds for this project.
3 Section 4. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence,
4 clause, phrase, or word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or
5 unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining
6 portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so
7 declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of the
8 resolution.
9 Section 5. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that
10 are inconsistent with the provisions of this resolution,.are hereby repealed to the extent
11 of such inconsistency.
