RESOLUTION NO. 11,316
A RESOLUTION TO ENCOURAGE THE LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL BOARD TO
RECONSTRUCT WAKEFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ON THE SAME SITE;
TO KEEP THE STUDENT BODY AT THE SAME SCHOOL DURING THE
CONSTRUCTION PROCESS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, a recent file to Wakefield Elementary School has destroyed the
building and made it impossible to use the facility as an elementary school for the 2002-
2003 academic year, and perhaps for additional years, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, is aware of
the importance of neighborhood involvement with any facility, and is also aware that
Wakefield Elementary School has become a vibrant neighborhood school that is supported
by the surrounding community, and which serves as an essential ingredient to making the
neighborhood a positive and productive force for the City, and
WHEREAS, these factors strongly support the reconstruction of the school at the
same location, and further support keeping the student body in tact during the
construction period,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
21 Section 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock strongly urges the
22 Little Rock School Board to decide to reconstruct Wakefield Elementary School at the same
23 location.
24 Section 2. The Board of Directors of the City also encourages the Little Rock
25 School Board to take all necessary steps to keep the current student body, and teaching
