HomeMy WebLinkAbout110829 0 RESOLUTION NO. 11,082 A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE CONTINUED COMMUNCITY PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, AND THE CITY OF KALUSH, UKRAINE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the cities of Little Rock, Arkansas, in the United States of America, and Kalush, Ukraine, are extending a U.S. - Ukraine Community partnership under U.S. Aid funded U.S. — Ukraine Community Partnerships for Local Government Training and Education Project (CCP) Cooperative Agreement Award No. 121 -A -97- 00149 -00, and c. WHEREAS, the partnership has been extended in order to foster development of local governments in the Ukraine by providing cost - effective and sustainable technical assistance, training and education to Ukrainian communities, and WHEREAS, through a supportive training environment, this partnership will continue to provide visitors from Kalush a clearer idea of how a municipality in the United States functions, and WHEREAS, this partnership will further develop a mutual understanding between the citizens of both cities through the exchange of various information and materials, and WHEREAS, a local coordinating committee of experts in relevant fields has been recruited and will a directed through the efforts of Mr. Walter Nunn and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and this committee shall handle the logistics and planning of these exchanges, and WHEREAS, this exchange between the two cities will be accomplished at no cost to the City of Little Rock, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1.
