HomeMy WebLinkAbout11078I RESOLUTION NO. 11,078 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE LITTLE ROCK 4 HOUSING AUTHORITY HOPE VI APPLICATION TO REPLACE 5 HOLLINGSWORTH GROVE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 6 7 WHEREAS, the Little Rock Board of Directors offers enthusiastic support 8 for the Little Rock Housing Authority HOPE VI application to replace 9 Hollingsworth Grove an aging, distressed public housing site located in the 10 planned expansion path of the Little Rock Regional Airport with a new 11 community called Riverside East; and 12 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock is supportive of the Riverside East 13 revitalization plan to transform the blocks adjacent to the proposed Clinton 14 Presidential Library Park (an area east of the Presidential Park to the Nathaniel 15 Hill Complex and bound on the south of Sixth Street and to the north by the 16 river) into a revitalized neighborhood featuring a vibrant mix of apartments and 17 homes (from affordable to market rate), a commercial and small office corridor, 18 riverfront parks and recreational centers linked to a comprehensive community 19 supportive services system, and 20 WHEREAS, grant funds would assist in developing a strong mixed income 21 neighborhood of approximately 200 units of affordable rental housing plus sixty 22 (60) senior rental units and thirty (30) single - family homes that enhance the value 23 of existing homes and provides the stimulus for additional private development 24 of infill housing. 25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF 26 DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: [PAGE 1 OF 21 1 2 3 4 5 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 W • 0 Section 1. The City of Little Rock supports this $28 million plus revitalization effort by providing infrastructure improvements, park improvements, program and operating support for the Nathaniel Hill Complex, zoning, design overlay district and Targeted Neighborhood Enhancement Plan designation for the Riverside East Neighborhood, and strongly encouraging that all stakeholders -- such as the Downtown Partnership, Donaghey Project, Planning Department, residents, neighborhood associations, and the public at large -- be involved in the planning process.
