HomeMy WebLinkAbout109720 0 RESOLUTION NO. 10,972 A RESOLUTION TO RENAME A PORTION OF EAST MARKHAM STREET TO PRESIDENT CLINTON AVENUE IN HONOR OF PRESIDENT WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, President William Jefferson Clinton has chosen to locate his Presidential Library within the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, in a location on the riverfront immediately east of Interstate 30, and WHEREAS, the principal entrance to the site of the Presidential Library is on an axis with East Markham Street to emphasize the link to downtown Little Rock, and WHEREAS, it is appropriate that a portion of East Markham Street be renamed to honor Arkansas' only President and to recognize the principal entrance to the site of the Presidential Library, and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas passed Resolution No. 10,122 on November 7, 1997 stating its intent to rename portions of East and West Markham Street to President Clinton Avenue, and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas passed Resolution No. 10,608 on July 27, x1999 which repealed Resolution No. 10,122 and stated the Board of Directors' intent to rename a portion of East Markham Street beginning at its intersection with Cumberland Street to President Clinton Avenue effective January 20, 2001. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The name of that portion of East Markham Street located between Cumberland Street and Collins Street is hereby changed to President Clinton Avenue effective January 20, 2001. 0 0 SECTION 2. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and the City Manager is hereby directed to notify all departments of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas of said change.
