3 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER
4 INTO CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS WITH ORGANIZATIONS TO
5 PROVIDE SERVICES TO WELFARE TO WORK ELIGIBLE CLIENTS;
6 AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock was awarded a $5,000,000 grant from the United States
9 Department of Labor to provide Welfare to Work services to Pulaski County residents; and,
10 WHEREAS, the City issued a Request for Proposals to solicit educational and occupational
11 skills training services to assist Welfare to Work eligible clients; and,
12 WHEREAS, after reviewing the proposals of responding agencies the following agencies were
13 selected to provide designated services;
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
15 CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
16 SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into contract negotiations with the
17 following providers for the City's Welfare to Work program:
18 1. Shorter College, (Bid #00 -247) for an amount not to exceed $64,300; and,
19 2. H.I.R.E., Inc., (Bid #00 -247) for an amount not to exceed $60,000.
20 SECTION 2. Funding is available from the U.S. Department of Labor, Welfare to Work
21 Competitive Grant from account WTOW- CON -A120.
