3 A RESOLUTION TO SET A PUBLIC HEARING ON APRIL
4 4, 2000, TO DISCUSS A REQUEST TO RAISE THE
5 CEILING RATE FOR TAXI FARES; AND FOR OTHER
6 PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, there has been a sharp increase in the price of a gallon of gasoline in the
9 past several weeks, to the point that gas prices are currently above $1.50 per gallon and are
10 predicted to be as much as $2.00 a gallon or more during the summer months, and
11 WHEREAS, the cost of gasoline is a major expense for taxi cab drivers, and this increase
12 in the cost of gasoline makes it more difficult for drivers to earn a decent living and still provide
13 quality service, and
14 WHEREAS, before approving an increase in the ceiling rate the Board of Directors
15 wishes to have a public hearing on the issue,
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
17 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
18 Section 1. The Board shall conduct a public hearing on April 4, 2000, to determine
19 whether to approve an increase in the ceiling rate for taxi cab fares. This hearing shall occur at
20 the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board.
