2 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER
3 TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH STEMS, INC., FOR
4 CONSTRUCTION SERVICES AT THE MacARTHUR PARK
5 HISTORIC ARSENAL BUILDING; AND FOR OTHER
6 PURPOSES.
7 WHEREAS, the January 21, 1999, tomado damaged, among other things, the roof and
8 porch of the arsenal building in MacArthur Park, and
9 WHEREAS, this historic structure, which is the birthplace of General of the Army
10 Douglas MacArthur, is listed on the National Register of Historic Structures, and the proposed
11 repairs to this damage have been endorsed by historic preservation groups in the area, and
12 WHEREAS, a part of the cost of this reconstruction work will be paid for from insurance
13 proceeds, and
14 WHEREAS, Siems, Inc., was selected to perform this work,
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
16 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
17 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Siems, Inc.,
18 in the amount of one hundied and fifty nine thousand dollars ($159,000.00), to repair the roof
19 and porch on the McArthur Park Historic Arsenal Building.
20 Section 2. Funds for this project are available in Account No. 210 - 230 -A335 and,
21 partially from the insurance proceeds paid to the City by the insurance in effect to pay such
22 damages at the time of the January 21, 1999, tomado.
