HomeMy WebLinkAbout107240 0 RESOLUTION 10,724 A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION (EDA) DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE (DOC) FUNDED %0 LONG TERM RECOVERY STRATEGY FOR THE AREA OF LITTLE ROCK IMPACTED BY THE JANUARY 21, 1999 TORNADOES. WHEREAS, On January 21, 1999, the City of Little Rock experienced a series of devastating tornadoes that had a severe negative physical, emotional and economic impact on our City; and WHEREAS, as a result of the tornado damage, the City was awarded funding assistance from the EDA/DOC to develop a comprehensive and long range Economic Recovery Strategy; and WHEREAS, after a competitive bid process authorized by Resolution No. 10,512, the City Manager awarded UALR Institute of Economic Advancement (IEA), a contract for $100,000 to develop the Economic Recovery Strategy; and WHEREAS, UALRAEA has completed the comprehensive long term Economic Recovery Strategy as prescribed in the EDA/DOC contract. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is authorized to pursue additional local, state, federal, and private resources required to implement the approved long term Economic Recovery Strategy. SECTION 2. That the City Manager is authorized to establish priority in developing each economic development opportunity listed in the long term economic development strategy based on the city's available matching resources and other competitive factors.
