HomeMy WebLinkAbout107098 0 1 RESOLUTION NO. 10.709 2 3 A RESOLUTION REQUIRING PUBLIC INFORMATION 4 MEETINGS ON THE YEAR 2000 BUDGET. 671 5 6 WHEREAS, the adoption of the annual City of Little Rock budget commits the 7 collection and spending of over $100 million in public funds; and 8 WHEREAS, the spending patterns detailed in the annual budget are a primary 9 statement of community values; and 10 WHEREAS, it is essential that the governing body of the City of Little Rock 11 demonstrate the highest standard of accountability and trustworthiness in its financial 12 decisions made on behalf of the citizens of Little Rock. 13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF 14 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 15 SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas hereby 16 states its intention to develop the annual budget for the Year 2000 in a manner which 17 maximizes access and participation by the public and which promotes understanding of 18 the municipality's financial condition and future plans to collect and expend public funds. 19 This intention shall be accomplished by the means of public access to the budget process 20 detailed in the subsection below: 21 (A) Public Participation and Access: 22 (1) Four budget information meetings shall -be publicized- and-conducted 23 at the following locations throughout the City: 24 Thursday, December 9 - 6:00 p.m. Southwest Community Center 25 Saturday, December 11 -10:00 a.m. Nathaniel Hill Community Center 26 Wednesday, December 15-6:00 p.m. Dunbar Community Center 27 Saturday, December 18 - 10:00 a.m. Terry Library 28 (2) All budget work sessions of the City Board of Directors shall be 29 televised on the municipal cable channel at times most convenient for 30 public viewing. 1 (3) The proposed Year 2000 budget documents shall be posted to the 2 City's Internet site and publicized by appropriate means. 6 72 3 (4) A proposed budget shall be made available at the City's Alert Centers, 4 Fire Stations, Central Arkansas Library branches, and other locations 5 as deemed appropriate. 6 SECTION 2. The City Manager will implement the provisions of Section 1 of this 7 Resolution. 8 SECTION 3.
