A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS WITH
NEW FUTURES FOR YOUTH, INC. TO PROVIDE
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE COORDINATION, YOUTH
EMPLOYABILITY COORDINATION, EVALUATION AND
VIOLENCE PREVENTION COORDINATION SERVICES.
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has been committed to prevention, intervention and
treatment programs to enhance public safety, community- building, and youth development; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock released a Request for Proposal to obtain an
organization to provide technical assistance, youth employability coordination, evaluation and
violence prevention coordination services; and,
WHEREAS, a selection committee reviewed and recommended the disqualification of
an out -of -town low bidder and an award to the next lowest responsible bidder, New Futures for
Youth, Inc. for the Technical Assistance, Youth Employability Coordination, Evaluation and
Violence Prevention Coordination Services Contract.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Board accepts the selection committee's recommendation to reject the
low bid of Counseling Associates of Conway, Arkansas and to award the contract to the next
lowest bidder, New futures for Youth, Inc.
SECTION 2. The contract's terms shall be for one year, from January 1, 2000 to
December 31, 2000. It may be extended for two additional one -year terms upon satisfactory
performance and mutual agreement of the parties.
SECTION 3. Funding for this contract shall not exceed $195,000 and shall come from
prevention, intervention and treatment funds.
SECTION 4. Any contract entered into prior to the passage of the City Budget
Ordinance for the Year 2000 shall contain a non - appropriation clause.
