3 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXTEND THE
4 CONTRACT WITH ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT CORPORATION, INC.
5 FOR ENVIRONMENTAL OVERSIGHT TO COMPLETE DEMOLITION OF
6 THE REMAINING TORNADO DESTROYED RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES
7 AND THE CITY -OWNED COMMERCIAL BUILDING LOCATED AT 1301
8 EAST 2ND STREET.

10 WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 17,954 (March 9, 1999) authorized a contract with
11 Engineering Management Corporation, Inc., to provide environmental oversight and
12 oversight of the asbestos abatement and demolition /removal of buildings destroyed by the
13 January 21, 1999, tornado; and
14 WHEREAS, the authorized contract provided for payment not to exceed $50,000;
15 and
16 WHEREAS, additional structures have been reclassified as destroyed requiring
17 demolition and removal, requiring a contract extension and additional funds to complete
18 the demolition project since authorization of Ordinance No. 17, 954.
19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
20 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
21 SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to extend the contract with Engineering
22 Management Corporation, Inc., to complete demolition of the remaining tornado destroyed
23 residential structures and the City -owned commercial building located at 1301 East 2nd
24 Street.
25 SECTION 2. Increased funding in the amount of $18,000 has been authorized with
26 a total contract payment not to exceed $68,000. FEMA has approved reimbursement of
27 the additional $18,000 to the City in accordance with existing FEMA procedures and rates.
28 SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its
29 adoption.
