A RESOLUTION TO AMEND LITTLE ROCK, ARK,
RESOLUTION NO. 10,122 (NOVEMBER 7, 1997), TO
OUTLINE THE PROCESS FOR THE RENAMING A
PORTION OF EAST MARKHAM STREET TO
PRESIDENT CLINTON AVENUE; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, on November 7, 1997, the Board of Directors, in reaction to the news
that Little Rock had been selected as the site for the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential
Library, adopted a resolution of intent to rename portions of East and West Markham as
President Clinton Avenue; and
WHEREAS, this Resolution, (Little Rock, Ark., Resolution No. 10, 122 [November
7, 19971 [ "LRR 10,122 "]), directed that the appropriate ordinances be brought forward to
finally accomplish this name change; and
WHEREAS, LRR 10,122 has not been finally implemented and, prior to
implementation it is the custom of the City to hold public hearings, notify property owners,
and to discuss the issue in greater detail; and
WHEREAS, the Clinton Presidential Library will become the anchor of the thriving
River Market District, and has already become a major catalyst for tremendous economic
growth in the district.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Section 1 of LRR 10,122, which states an intent to rename all of East
and West Markham Street from the Union Pacific Railway Station to the site of the Clinton
Presidential Library effective on January 1, 2000, is hereby repealed.

SECTION 2. The Board of Directors states its intent to rename a portion of East
Markham beginning at the intersection of Cumberland and East Markham to President
Clinton Avenue effective January 20, 2001, subject to standard street naming policies and
procedures.
