3 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
4 ENTER INTO A FRIENDSHIP CITIES AGREEMENT
5 BETWEEN THE CITY OF NEWCASTLE, ENGLAND
6 AND THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS,
7 UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

9 WHEREAS, in order to share cultures and further develop understanding and
10 cooperation between the two cities, the City of Newcastle, England and the City of Little
11 Rock, Arkansas, United States of America, have agreed to establish a Friendship of Cities
12 relationship based on good faith and mutual cooperation; and
13 WHEREAS, on behalf of our respective cities, we hereby agree to promote our
14 Friendship Cities relationship through mutual cooperation and exchange of culture, sports,
15 education, arts, science, technology, and trade through the establishment of an interchange
16 of administrative data, and through the promotion of tourism and a broad range of civil
17 interchanges.
18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
19 OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
20 SECTION 1. The Mayor of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, and the Mayor of the
21 City of Newcastle, England hereby agree to enter into a Friendship Cities Agreement
22 between the City of Newcastle, England and the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, United States
23 of America.
24 SECTION 2. The Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to enter into any written
25 documents necessary to reflect this friendship agreement.
26 SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its
27 adoption.

FRIENDSHIP CITIES AGREEMENT
BETWEEN 300
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, ENGLAND
AND
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS,
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
In order to share cultures and further develop understanding and cooperation
between the two cities, the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, England and the City of Little
Rock, Arkansas, United States of America, have agreed to establish a Friendship Cities
relationship based on good faith and mutual cooperation.
On behalf of our respective cities, we hereby agree to promote our Friendship Cities
relationship through mutual cooperation and exchange of culture, sports, education, arts,
science, technology, and trade, through the establishment of an interchange of
administrative data, and through the promotion of tourism and a broad range of civil
interchanges.
This protocol shall become effective on Saturday, July 24, 1999, with the signatures
of both parties listed below.
