3 A RESOLUTION DECLARING THAT UPON VOTER APPROVAL OF
4 THE BUILDING A BETTER LITTLE ROCK PROPOSAL, STREET
5 IMPROVEMENTS ON SCOTT HAMILTON DRIVE LEADING TO
6 BASELINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WILL BE THE FIRST
7 PROJECT UNDERTAKEN IN WARD 6.

9 WHEREAS, on January 2, 1996, Major Jim Dailey established the Mayor's Infrastructure
10 Task Force; and
11 WHEREAS, the eleven- member task force met over a twelve month period to study
12 deficiencies in the City's infrastructure; and
13 WHEREAS, in January 1997, the task force submitted a report outlining its findings and
14 detailing recommendations which included $475 in identified infrastructure needs; and
15 WHEREAS, these needs were prioritized with neighborhood input through area
16 redevelopment committees; and
17 WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock have included the
18 needs in the building a Better Little Rock proposal to be referred to voters for approval on May 25,
19 1999; and
20 WHEREAS, the proposal includes a five -year infrastructure plan for improvements in each
21 ward within the City; and
22 WHEREAS, street improvements on Scott Hamilton Drive leading to Baseline Elementary
23 School are critical to the health and safety of the school children in that neighborhood.
24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
25 CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
26 SECTION 1. Upon voter approval of the Building a Better Little Rock Proposal, street
27 improvements on Scott Hamilton Drive, leading to Baseline Elementary School, will be the first project
28 undertaken in Ward 6.
