A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK ENDORSING THE CONCEPT OF THE KAKIS ROAD OVERLAYS
PREPARED BY THE STAFF AND DIRECTING THE STAFF TO WORK WITH
THE PLANNING COMMISSION AND PROPERTY OWNERS TO COMPLETE THE
TWO OVERLAYS WITHIN 90 DAYS.

WHEREAS, a Study Committee was established by the Mayor to examine the
existing and future development patterns along the Kanis Road Corridor; and
WHEREAS, the Kanis Road Study Committee examined the existing land
use, the Future Land Use Plan and the Master Street Plan for the Kanis Road
Corridor and made recommendations for potential development patterns in the
area; and
WHEREAS, the Committee recognizes that development can occur and be
environmentally friendly while preserving the natural character of the area
and the scenic beauty of the Kanis Road Corridor while retaining the
existing landscape; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has determined the current city ordinances do
not address the particular concerns for the Kanis Road Corridor; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has determined a design overlay district for
the Kanis Road Corridor would address some of the concerns of the area; and
WHEREAS, the staff has prepared a draft of two overlay concepts along
Kanis Road, and
WHEREAS, the proposed drafts are the culmination of the Kanis Road
study and a review of the results of the previous overlays in Little Rock.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock does
hereby endorse the concept of the two (2) Kanis Road Corridor Overlay
Design Districts.
SECTION 2. Board of Directors hereby directs the staff to work with
the Little Rock Planning Commission and property owners along the Kanis
Road Corridor to complete the Kanis Road Overlay Design District Ordinances
within ninety (90) days.
