HomeMy WebLinkAbout103441 2 RESOLUTION NO. 10,344 3 4 5 A RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT THE HARDSCRAMBLE 6 COMMUNITY APPLICATION FOR WATER SERVICE. 7 9 WHEREAS, the Mt. Zion Community, also known as Hardscramble, is located in 10 rural Pulaski and Saline Counties and is approximately 140 years old and has a population 1l of approximately 200 families; and 12 WHEREAS, the Mt. Zion Community proposes to construct a water project for the 13 benefit of the 200 families who do not presently enjoy clean, safe drinking water; and 14 WHEREAS, the community has formed the Mt. Zion Improvement District as the 15 jurisdiction governing the proposed project; and 16 WHEREAS, the United States Department of Agriculture, through its office of 17 Rural Utilities Service, has developed the Water 2000 initiative in an effort to provide clean, 18 safe, and affordable drinking water to all rural homes by the year 2000; and 19 WHEREAS, the Mt. Zion Suburban Improvement District desires, through the Rural 20 Utilities Service's Water 2000 initiative, to obtain funding for the installation of water lines 21 to secure clean, safe drinking water for their community. 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS 23 OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 24 SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock does hereby, through 25 this act and deed, proclaim their support for the Mt.
