RESOLUTION NO. 10,312
A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION'S "CHAIN
OF PARKS" PLAN.
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock Department of Parks and Recreation has developed a
plan, known as the "Chain of Parks ", which links several City, County, State and Federal Parks along
the Arkansas River through pedestrian trails and river access, and
WHEREAS, the "Chain of Parks" will provide citizens and visitors many unique recreational
opportunities and creates a synergistic blend of active and passive parks and recreation areas, and
WHEREAS, the "Chain of Parks" will provide the City with one of the foremost pedestrian
trails in the Country while preserving unique and fragile environments, and
WHEREAS, the "Chain of Parks" will greatly enhance the City's overall quality of life,
enhance tourism opportunities and take advantage of the Arkansas River and its many diverse
opportunities.
NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LITTLE ROCK CITY BOARD
OF DIRECTORS:
SECTION 1: The City of Little Rock Board of Directors hereby endorses the
Department of Parks and Recreation's plan for the "Chain of Parks" as presented on June 30, 1998
and will continue to promote and encourage future development related to the plan.
SECTION 2: Department of Parks and Recreation staff will continue refining an
implementation plan for the "Chain of Parks" and keep the City Board of Directors informed at key
times.
SECTION 3: The City of Little Rock Department of Parks and Recreation, the City Manager
and the City Board of Directors will continue looking for innovative ways to implement and fund this
long range concept.
